It was our pleasure to have Aevar Agnarsson and Dan Murphy from Icelandic USA in our studios. Not only did they bring us plump shrimp to satisfy our morning appetites, but surprised us with jars of ash from Eyjafjallajokull.

How long have you run your business? Icelandic USA has been in the US since 1947. Aevar: This is my 13th year in Newport News. I have been the CEO since 2005 and was previously the Vice President of Operations. Dan: I have been with the company for 15 years.

How did you get into your business? Aevar: I was born and raised in a small fishing village in Iceland where my father was a fisherman and my mother worked at the fish plant. I started at the plant when I was 12 and have done everything from commercial fishing to running this great company.

What is your business philosophy? To surround yourself with good and talented people that are preferably smarter than you!

What is something most people don't know about you? Aevar: I am a better golfer than Dan even though he has played for 40 years and I just started at age 40! Dan: I do not own a piece of jewelry. I also have never drank a cup of coffee or tea.
