A Record Year for NN/W Airport, and a Disney Giveaway to CelebrateBy WYDaily Staff Tuesday, January 18, 2011 After several record months of air travel in 2010, it's little surprise that Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport posted a record year.Passenger traffic was up 4.2 percent over 2009: 1,062,007 passengers used the airport from January 1 through December 31, 2010 compared with 1,019,336 passengers in 2009. The 2010 total passenger number is also an all-time record for the airport; the previous record held in 2005 served 1,058,839 total passengers. To celebrate the record, Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is giving away a three-day, two-night trip to Disney World. Airfare is provided by AirTran Airways, with hotel accommodations and passes to Disney. Register for a chance to win by liking the airport on Facebook (click here to visit the airport's Facebook page) between now and February 13 at midnight. The winner will be selected at random on February 14. “2010 was a great year for the airport; we celebrated the grand opening of a new $13 million concourse, achieved numerous facility upgrades and welcomed a brand new airline to our community. Frontier Airlines added non-stop service to Denver with connections throughout the west coast in May, making it easier than ever to go west from PHF," said airport executive director Ken Spirito. "The year ahead looks promising and we remain committed to serving our business, leisure and military/government travelers with exceptional customer service. What better way is there to say thank you to our community for their continuing support, than by giving away a trip to Disney?” The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is served by four airlines: AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines and US Airways with non-stop service to seven domestic destinations (Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Denver, NY-LaGuardia, Orlando and Philadelphia) with connections throughout the world. |
