Allegiant to Begin Orlando Service from NN/W AirportBy WYDaily Staff Thursday, August 18, 2011 The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport will announce this morning that Allegiant Air will begin serving the region.The airport announced today's press conference yesterday, saying only a "brand new airline to the region" would be introduced. Allegiant's website beat locals to the punch. This morning, the destination carrier was promoting a $64.99 one-way fare to Orlando. That fare bumps to $92.68 with taxes and fees. Flights begin Nov. 16, according to the Allegiant website. It was not immediately clear whether Allegiant would offer daily flights. Allegiant is a low-cost carrier that is headquartered in Las Vegas. Its business model links smaller U.S. cities to travel destinations like Las Vegas, Phoenix, Myrtle Beach and Southern California, with hotel and resort packages offered to travelers as they book vacations on the Allegiant website.
