Margot Mellette didn’t know what to expect when she went to visit Hospice House as research for an eighth-grade term paper.Where some might expect sorrow, she found a bright place full of love. She was inspired to return, so much so that she organized a group of friends to form the Hospice Teen Outreach. Now, as the Hampton Roads Academy graduate prepares to leave for Yale in August, she will be leaving behind an outreach organization that boasts around 20 teenage volunteers.

Typically most people will not choose to become bald; however, Soosan Hall of Norge has done just that. Soosan will shave her head, go bald for kid’s cancer, “shaving the way to conquer kids’ cancer.” on April 7 at Colonial Heritage at a fundraiser to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

I miss a bunch of stuff because I live in Williamsburg, but work in Norfolk four days a week. I signed up for this; I’m not complaining. But the thing I’m the saddest to miss is the transformation of my daughter into Katie Hoff.
