You can do without the paper; you can't do without the news.
About Us Williamsburg Yorktown Daily (www.wydaily.com) is the only daily newspaper dedicated to Williamsburg and James City and York counties, known nationally as America's Historic Triangle. A lot happens here every day. We want to report that news and ask for your participation. Our goal is to report "why" things happen rather than just what; to avoid sensational and polarizing news and opinion; and to start a community conversation on all kinds of topics important to quality folks who live, work and play here. You can hear summaries of our news of the day weekday mornings and afternoons on two local radio stations: 92.3FM The Tide and 107.9FM BACHfm. Our goal is to be accessible and important to you. We want to do everything we can to make www.wydaily.com your home page, and we want to hear from you about how we can make that happen. We enjoy sharing your community with you - and thanks for every time you drop in to read the latest. Sincerely, Kimberly Lenz - Managing Editor (kim@wydaily.com)
And some more folks whose words you read and voices you hear:
Will Armbruster covers sports for the WYDaily. He's had a semi-obsessive passion for sports his whole life, which could explain why he's wanted to be a sports writer since he knew what one was. After realizing his mediocre high school basketball career wasn't going to carry him to the NBA, he attended Longwood University where he wrote for the campus newspaper, The Rotunda, and served as sports editor for two years. You can contact Will at will@wydaily.com.
Sam Thrift covers crimes and courts, along with important topics in York County. Having just graduated from Christopher Newport University with a degree in Communications and Journalism in May of 2011, she feels lucky to land her first job reporting at WYDaily. Sam discovered her passion for writing as the News Editor of the CNU campus newspaper, The Captain's Log, and has interned at WJLA Ch 7 in Washington D.C. and The Foreign Press Association in London. She also filmed and produced a documentary last spring on Virginia Tech's campus newspaper's coverage of the April 16 massacre. Sam can be reached at sam@wydaily.com.
