Lease Ends, Shackelford's Closes

The popular Williamsburg restaurant Shackelford’s II shuttered its doors May 31, ending an 11-year run in the Monticello Marketplace Shopping Center.

Owner Kirk Poore said in an email to WYDaily that operations at the Williamsburg location ended when the restaurant’s lease expired on Memorial Day.

“I am reviewing various offers to sell the business, and the space will reopen in the future,” Poore wrote. “I greatly appreciate the support of the restaurant’s vendors, staff, and clientele since opening in January 1999.”

Poore said the two Richmond locations of Shackelford’s would remain open for business. The restaurant opened a new location in Chesterfield County just west of the city last July, and the original version debuted in Richmond’s West End in 1993.

The chain provides American fare, coupling steaks with seafood options, sandwiches and a raw bar, and is open for lunch and dinner.
