Terra Tweaks Concept; Wine Bar Grand Opening Wed.

HS-terra-extWine lovers and gourmands can toast Terra Wine Bar at its official grand opening on Wednesday.

Williamsburg Mayor Clyde Haulman will be on hand to cut the ribbon to the High Street wine bar, which opened for business in April. The grand opening event will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Timeline Jazz Quartet will perform while guests enjoy a selection of tapas from the menu at a discounted price of $5 and drink specials, according to manager Julius Wilson.

Although the restaurant had a soft opening in April, Wilson said the owners wanted to have a grand opening event later when the business had gotten its footing. After three months in business, the owners  and Chef Troy Buckley have made tweaks to the menu and business based on customer feedback.

Initially conceived as a coffee and Panini shop by day and wine bar with tapas by night, Terra has expanded its menu to enable patrons to better customize their orders. Tapas now comes in three sizes, coming with two, four or six small bites, depending on how many people want to share. If someone wants to have a bigger meal, he or she can request some popular tapas items as a big plate meal, Wilson said.

Coffee purists can enjoy Illy Italian roast coffee on the side of the building facing Movie Tavern, while wine lovers can sample tastes, half-glasses or full-glasses from Napa wine dispensers. Patrons can purchase cards that resemble credit cards and specify the amount of money they’d like to spend, starting at a minimum of $20.
