York River Academy's 2010 Graduates

York River Academy is the area's only charter school, and this year graduates a dozen students. The class of 2010 graduates, along with their scholarships and intended college destinations, have been announced.

Colleges to attend: Chowan University, Virginia Union University, Thomas Nelson Community College

2010 Scholarships: Total of $12,200
• Janai Monique Ballow: $4,000 in scholarship money from 100 Black Men of America, Inc., Virginia Union University and Summer Bridge Program.
• Deyka Marie Estrella-Perez: $5,800 in scholarship money from Chowan University and YCSD Committee for Minority Affairs.
• Jonathan Davis Gilson: $1,200 from J. Frank Benson Memorial Scholarship
• Rachel Lorraine Roebuck: $1,200 from TNCC Educational Foundation Scholarship
