Closings, Postponements for Feb. 1-Updated 9:05 P.M.

The weekend’s snowstorm has caused all sorts of havoc with schedules, both social and professional. Here’s the latest list of closings/cancellations/postponements for Monday, Feb. 1 and Tuesday, Feb 2. The York County School Division schools and offices will continue to be closed Tuesday, Feb. 2 due to poor road conditions. All athletic events scheduled for Tuesday have also been canceled.

The Williamsburg James City County School Division will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Child Development Resources – all operations will continue to be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

City of Williamsburg Refuse Collection - is cancelled for today.  Collection for this week will be as follows:  The Monday route will be collected Tuesday, February 2nd.  The Tuesday route will be collected Wednesday, February 3rd.

James City County Curbside Recycling - is cancelled for today.  If you have questions, you can email them by clicking here.

The Centuries of Art @ Your Library program on Aboriginal Art, previously scheduled at the Williamsburg Library Theatre for tonight, has been postponed to a later date. Visit the WRL Web site or call (757) 259-4070 for more information.

The York County School Division schools and offices will be closed Monday, February 1, due to inclement weather and unsafe driving conditions. Students are scheduled to be off on a holiday, but teachers and administrators were to have had a workday.

Athletic events for York County School Division and the Williamsburg-James City School Division scheduled for Monday , Feb. 1 have been postponed. New schedules will be posted later.

All activities at the Senior Center of York, including a scheduled H1N1 vaccine clinic, have been canceled for Tuesday, Feb. 2. For more information, call the Senior Center at 898-3807.The H1N1 vaccine clinic has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The City of Williamsburg government offices will open at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1.

Waller Mill Park will be closed Monday, Feb. 1.

The Quarterpath Recreation Center opened at 10 a.m. today but will close at 5 p.m..  All Monday evening youth and adult activities and classes at the Rec Center have been canceled.

York County government offices will open at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1.

James City County will observe the following delayed opening schedule on Monday, Feb. 1:

  • James City County offices and Convenience Centers will delay opening by two hours.
  • Williamsburg Regional Library locations will open at noon.

The James River Community Center, located at 8901 Pocahontas Trail in Grove, will be closed on Monday, February 1. For continued updates, please call (757) 259-4200.

County closings or delayed openings are posted on the County Web site; JCC TV48, Facebook and the County’s emergency hotline, (757) 875-2424.

County residents should sign up their email, cell phones and pagers to receive local emergency alert information at www.jccalert.org. By registering, one can receive information during emergency conditions. Text messaging charges may apply.

Thomas Nelson Community College will be closed for all classes and activities at the Hampton Campus, the Historic Triangle Campus and the Southeast Higher Education Center in Newport News on Monday, Feb. 1.

Newport News Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, and related Clerk's offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 1.

The York County Courthouse will open on its regular schedule Monday, Feb. 1 - no weather delays.

Jefferson Lab will be closed Monday, Feb. 1.

Williamsburg Montessori School will be closed Monday, Feb. 1.

Williamsburg Area Transit is expected to resume service Monday, Feb. 1. Service has been suspended since Saturday at 9 a.m. due to snow and hazardous conditions.

The College of William and Mary will open at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1.

Hampton Roads Academy in Newport News will be closed Monday, Feb. 1.

Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg will be closed Monday, Feb. 1.

Williamsburg Christian Academy is closed Monday, Feb. 1.

Gloucester County Public Schools are closed Monday, Feb. 1 for students as a scheduled teacher workday.

Christopher Newport University will open at noon Monday, Feb. 1.

Norfolk State, Virginia Wesleyan and Old Dominion universities closed Monday, Feb. 1. The ODU student recreation center is open Monday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Hampton University will open on a two-hour delay Monday, Feb. 1.

Newport News Public Library System’s Bookmobile will not be operating today, Monday, Feb. 1, because of road conditions. Members of the public are encouraged to check the Library System’s Web site , for up-to-date closing information. Also, all Newport News public libraries will close at 5 p.m. Monday because of road conditions.
