Sinkhole Closes Lane on I-64 East

Virginia Department of Transportation crews have closed the right lane on I-64 East at mile marker 207, just east of the Bottoms Bridge exit, due to a sink hole.

Crews discovered the sink hole overnight during routine maintenance activities. Repairs are anticipated to continue through the afternoon. Motorists should expect delays traveling into the Hampton Roads area.

For updates on road conditions, as well as real-time weather, incident information and traffic camera video, drivers should visit the VDOT Web site, call 511 or the Traffic Information Line 757-361-3016, or listen to 610AM.

Driving down Rochambeau from Norge to Mooretown Road, I noticed a rather steep, crumbling area next to the shoulder of I-64. I think VDOT tried to shore that area up before but I'm not sure if it's holding. Our crumbling infrastructure needs attention!
