Police Arrest Suspect in Lewd Incidents

Williamsburg police have identified a suspect in the sexually related assaults and indecent exposure that occurred in the Williamsburg Shopping Center on April 26.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Curtis Lee Gray, a 50-year-old resident of the 100 block of Winterset Pass in James City County.

City police have been conducting a joint investigation with the College of William and Mary Police Department because of reports of similar lewd encounters. The investigation is ongoing.

Police announced Wednesday morning they were seeking Gray. By late afternoon he had been located and arrested.

Gray faces charges of indecent exposure, assault and battery and grand larceny stemming from a shoplifting offense that occurred on May 5, also at the shopping center.
