Kids Injured in York School Bus Accident

Five students were transported to the hospital following a Yorktown Elementary School bus accident Tuesday morning, according to initial reports.

 

Just before 9 a.m., the school bus ran off the road into a ditch in the 400 block of Dogwood Road en route to the elementary school. The bus was traveling at approximately 10 mph.

Of the 25 students on board, five complained of bumping their heads and were transported to Mary Immaculate Hospital for treatment. The remaining children were transported to school and parents were notified, said Betsy Overkamp-Smith, spokesperson for York County Schools.

Bus driver Wendy Robbins was not charged in the accident. The names of the injured children were not released.
