School Orientations Set in WJCC for Redistricted FamiliesBy Amber Lester Monday, May 24, 2010 Families affected by the recent redistricting of Williamsburg-James City County elementary schools will have a chance to meet their new school communities in June.A series of orientations will be held for elementary school students who will be attending new schools in the fall. The WJCC School Board approved a redistricting plan in April; to find out where children will attend school next year, parents can review the neighborhood listing here. Orientations will be held as follows for students transferring to: •Clara Byrd Baker Elementary: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on June 7 at 3131 Ironbound Road. •Matoaka Elementary: 6:30 to 8 p.m. on June 8 at 4001 Brick Bat Road. •Norge Elementary: 7 to 8 p.m. on June 10 at 7311 Richmond Road. •D.J. Montague Elementary: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on June 10 at 5380 Centerville Road. •J. Blaine Blayton Elementary: Students currently attending Norge, Stonehouse and D.J. Montague Elementary schools who are scheduled to transfer to Blayton will receive an orientation from Principal Jeffrey Carroll at their present school during the school day. Norge students’ orientation will be at 2 p.m. on June 7; Stonehouse students’ orientation will be at 9 a.m. on June 8; and D.J. students’ orientation will be at 9 a.m. June 9. Parents are invited to attend Blayton’s regular open house, scheduled for Sept. 2, when construction is complete. The division will also host an upcoming meeting to form the new J. Blaine Blayton Parent-Teacher Association chapter. That meeting will be at 7 p.m. on June 8 at D.J. Montague Elementary School. |
