City Promotes Deputy to Replace PhillipsBy Desiree Parker Saturday, June 12, 2010 Deputy City Attorney Christina Shelton has been chosen to replace outgoing City Attorney Joe Phillips, effective July 1.The Williamsburg City Council voted this week to promote her. Mayor Jeannne Zeidler said on behalf of council “how really pleased and proud we will be” that Shelton was chosen for her new position. “You have provided great service to the city already… we’ll have another great city attorney to follow a great city attorney.” Shelton received her J.D. from Marshall Wythe School of Law at William and Mary in 2000. After graduating, Shelton worked with the law firm Phillips and Bartlett, P.C., and became a partner in 2006. While with the firm, Shelton worked as Assistant City Attorney for the city. In 2007, she became Deputy City Attorney. Shelton is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, the Williamsburg Bar Association, and the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia where she serves on the Pro Bono committee. She’s also a member of the board of directors for the United Way of Greater Williamsburg. |
