Health Dist. Seeks Schnauzer that Bit in Kingsmill

The Peninsula Health District is looking for a dog that bit someone in Kingsmill on Thursday.

The dog, a gray Schnauzer, bit the victim in the vicinity of Fairfax Way near a picnic table. The owner was walking two Schnauzers on a leash. If the dog is not found, the victim might have to undergo post-exposure shots for the prevention of rabies.

Once found, the dog will be placed on an in-home confinement period of 10 days. Anyone who has seen an animal that fits this description is asked to contact the Peninsula Health District’s Williamsburg Environmental Health Office at (757) 253-4812. After hours, contact the animal control officer at James City County/Williamsburg Animal Control at 253-1800.

I have seen a woman in Kingsmill on the path who walks two "rescued" terriers. The victim could have mistaken them for schnauzers.

even though the law is known as the "leash law," it is actually a "keep your dog under control at all times" law. The owner violated this law. He/she needs to come forward and spare the victim the time, trouble, pain, and expense of rabies shots.
