Search for JCC Administrator Down to One

jamescitycountylogoJames City County Supervisors have whittled down their search for a new county administrator to one person, who will likely be formally voted in and introduced on June 29.

Supervisor Jim Icenhour said the board has narrowed the applicant pool to one person, who isn’t from within the county. For the past few weeks, supervisors have been having closed session meetings to negotiate the candidate choice, along with salary and benefits. The board met again this morning at Legacy Hall to further that discussion.

Supervisors will have an open session on June 29 to formalize their decision, followed by a press conference to introduce outgoing administrator Sandy Wanner’s replacement.

The meeting will be held in building F of the county government complex, likely at 4:30 p.m., according to Icenhour.

for Bob R's concern that it's an internal candidate:
"Supervisor Jim Icenhour said the board has narrowed the applicant pool to one person, who isn’t from within the county."
Does that help?
For those who want an all county open-house, open-invitation party for the reception of the new candidate, let's have it at your place. Because nowhere in the article does it mention "party" or "reception".

Democracy for JCC: I agree with you and am glad you shared this. Why are they having a private, exclusive party when economic times are so tight? I hope the local media can learn how much taxes they're spending on this event and shares it with the public who is footing the bill but aren't allowed to attend!

Let's hope it is not an internal candidate, one of which was in charge when JCC was suing its own BZA and the other that suggested the public record should be altered to satisfy his wishes.

How tragic that everything is being done so secretly, hidden from the public. They are also planning an anti-public, by-invitation-o nly reception for the secret candidate later this month. How much are we taxpayers paying for this party that they are throwing for themselves, to which we are not invited? The JCC Supes continue to dishonor our democracy by conducting business as a non-democratic insiders-only club.

there is only one Sandy Wanner - no one like him. Good man. I hope he enjoys his retirement to the fullest.

Sandy Wanner did a terrific job and will be hard to replace. It appears that the supervisors are proceeding in an orderly and thoughtful manner.
