Mission the Same, but CSB Has a New Name

The Colonial Community Services Board, which provides mental health, intellectual disability and substance use disorder services to the Historic Triangle's residents, will change its name today.

The agency now will be known as Colonial Behavioral Health. The change was made in large part to more accurately describe the services the agency provides.

“Only our name has changed," said Executive Director David Coe. "Our commitment to the provision of quality services remains the same.”

To celebrate the change, the agency held three sign unveiling events Wednesday; one at the main campus,1657 Merrimac Trail in Williamsburg; the Grafton office at 3804 George Washington Memorial Highway; and at People’s Place, the agency Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center at 111 Warwick Court, Williamsburg.

The agency has been in existence since 1971 and has gone by several different names besides the Colonial Services Board, including: the Colonial Mental Health, Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services Board and Colonial Community Services Board. This change also provides a single legal name under which the agency provides services.
