Military Magazine Gives W&M High Marks

The Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary has been named to G.I. Jobs Magazine’s 2011 list of Military Friendly Schools. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that do the most to accommodate America’s active-duty military and veteran students.

Among the initiatives the College of William and Mary and the Mason School uses to engage active-duty military and veteran students are tuition discounts, in-state tuition without residency, a return from active service without penalty policy, a veteran’s club, advisors to help with career placement and a military-based section of the school’s website.

"The women and men of America's military add a valuable dimension to business education here at Mason," says Dean Lawrence B. Pulley. "Their experience, perspective and drive enrich the learning process for other students and faculty, so it is very much a win-win for all of us."

G.I. Jobs Magazine is the premiere publication for people transitioning out of the military. Its list of Military Friendly Schools is generated by the G.I. Jobs Military Friendly Schools team, which considers four criteria: a school’s non-financial along with financial efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and a school’s academic accreditations.
