Williamsburg Wants Citizen Input On GoalsBy Amber Lester Friday, September 03, 2010 Williamsburg will kick off its goal-setting process this week with a joint work session between City Council and the Economic Development Authority. Starting Thursday, the city will begin gathering ideas for its 2011/2012 Goals, Initiatives & Outcomes, a plan that outlines the future of the city for two years.The strategic initiatives provide an outline of the city’s priorities and plans, and set its direction. City leaders are asking citizens to share their opinions about the city’s goals and what should be on the short list of initiatives. At 8 a.m. on Sept. 9, City Council will join the Economic Development Authority for a join work session at the Quarterpath Recreation Center. The following week, citizens are invited to share input at a nighttime workshop. The workshop will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 in the Williamsburg Community Building. The city will also launch an online forum for citizen input that day. Here is the rest of the schedule for the Goals, Initiatives & Outcomes process: • Sept. 16: City Council and Planning Commission Joint Work Session, 4 p.m. at the Quarterpath Recreation Center. • Oct. 11: Review first draft of 2011/2012 Biennial Goals, Initiatives and Outcomes at City Council work session. Public comment welcome. 7 p.m. at the Stryker Building. • Nov. 12: Council set to adopt the Goals, Initiatives & Outcomes, 2 p.m. Stryker Building. To learn more about the process, click here. |
