Late-Night Attack on Female Motorist in YorkBy WYDaily Staff Friday, September 10, 2010 York County sheriffs investigators are looking into the late night attack Thursday on a female motorist who had pulled over to check on a low pressure tire reading in her car.The woman told police she was lost on Surrender Road – a rural byway that cuts through the Yorktown battlefield - near Cook Road when her tire pressure warning light flicked on. When she pulled off around 11:30 p.m. to check out her tires a car drove up with two men who offered to help. Instead, they struck her in the head and kicked her to the ground, then apparently took off with her purse. The woman told investigators when she got up the pair was gone, and so was her purse. Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Dennis Ivey, Jr. said the victim suffered a bruise on her right leg, and a small bump on the back of her head. She was very distraught, he said, and unable to provide a description of either the suspects or their vehicle. Investigators are asking anyone who may have information to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. |
