ABC Makeover Show Looking for Local Home, Story

ABC’s television series “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is looking for homes to spiffy up for their upcoming season, and they’re considering suggestions from Williamsburg.

The show is about a team of designers, contractors and workers remodeling a home in just one week for free. According to the show’s website, “the lucky homeowners always have a heartening back-story: Heroes, community leaders, and a plethora of inspirational families are truly the heart and soul of the show.

“There's that saying, ‘home is where the heart is,’ and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition puts the heart right where it belongs.”

For their upcoming eighth season, which will be taped this winter, the show’s producers are interested in helping a family from Virginia, and they’ve reached out to Williamsburg as a possible location for an episode.

They’re looking for people who may be facing difficult circumstances and are holding strong, but also people who make a big effort to help others. The show’s producers really want to help someone who gives back to the community, according to Karen Dutro, executive director of the nonprofit Network Williamsburg.

She has been in touch with the casting office, and has reached out to nonprofits in the area hoping to find that perfect someone who desperately needs a home makeover.

Submissions will close on Friday, October 15. Visit the show’s website for information on nominating someone.

Would love to see a "struggling" preschool in Williamsburg have a chance too. Our children deserve it & so do the teachers - they give so much of own own money....

Love to see a group home for the area's intellectually/ developmentally disabled. Time is running out for alot of these folks, with parents aging and some becoming disabled themselves. These "special" people deserve a happy and secure place to call home!

Let's nominate Deena Walls from Grove Christian Outreach Center. Plus wouldn't it be fantastic if they could build the new Center as well!
