Colonial Towne Plaza Set for AuctionBy WYDaily Staff Wednesday, October 20, 2010 Colonial Towne Plaza, home of the Williamsburg Brass Shop and located next to Colonial Heritage, will be auctioned off this week. The 25-acre property, owned by the Ware family trust, was developed in 1968. The commercial site is slated for online auction starting Friday and a live auction at Ware Creek Real Estate in Lanexa on November 13 (view the information on the auction here).Property owner Martha Ware, 89, didn’t have any comment about the sale. She did recall when she and her now-deceased husband, David, opened the shopping center. There were only three businesses on the road including the Williamsburg Pottery Factory, and back then the area was called the Golden Mile, she said. The property includes 45,000 square feet of retail space with 12 shops, and two separate buildings with a restaurant and an antique mall. Of the 25 acres, 11.5 are still undeveloped. According to the county, the property has an assessed value of $2.25 million, $1.6 of which is land value. Ware Creek Real Estate, owned by Martha’s son W. Walker Ware, will host the live auction November 13 at 11 a.m. The terms of the auction include a deposit of $100,000 due upon winning the bid.

What we need are larger stores & restaurant not upscale shops.....
Let's leave that to Newtown - High Street & even The Willaimsburg Pottery....
