VDOT Lane Closure Forecast: Oct. 24-30By WYDaily Staff Sunday, October 24, 2010 In an effort to keep you informed, VDOT publishes the following scheduled highway lane closures that may affect traffic in Hampton Roads. These closures are subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforeseen events. YORK COUNTY I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect lane closures between Exit 238 and Route 143 (Exit 247) for bridge deck repair and joint reconstruction, Sunday, October 24, through Thursday, October 28, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. COLEMAN BRIDGE Route 17 North – Motorists should expect single lane closures on the Coleman Bridge for overhead sign repair, Monday, October 25, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Route 17 South – Motorists should expect single lane closures on the Coleman Bridge for overhead sign repair, Monday, October 25, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. NEWPORT NEWS/ HAMPTON I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect multiple mobile lane closures between the I-64 Interchange (Exit 1) and Warwick Boulevard/35th Street (Exit 5) for pavement marking, Sunday, October 24, through Thursday, October 28, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE-TUNNEL I-64 East – Motorists should expect overnight single lane closures Sunday through Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the roadway lighting upgrade to the I-64 East Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Westbound traffic will not be affected and no weekend closures are planned. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2011. Motorists are encouraged to use I-664 Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel to avoid delays. Take Exit 264 to access I-664. Use exit 15A for Norfolk and Virginia Beach destinations. I-64 West – Motorists should expect a single lane closure through the HRBT for tunnel drain cleaning, Sunday, October 24, through Thursday, October 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. DOWNTOWN TUNNEL I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures in the Downtown Tunnel for tunnel sweeping, Tuesday, October 26, and Friday, October 29, from midnight to 4 a.m. MIDTOWN TUNNEL Route 58 East - Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the Midtown Tunnel for tunnel maintenance, Sunday, October 24, and Monday, October 25, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Route 58 West - Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the Midtown Tunnel for tunnel maintenance, Tuesday, October 26, and Wednesday, October 27, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. NORFOLK I-64 East/West HOV Reversible Roadway – Motorists should expect single lane closures in the HOV Reversible Roadway for pavement marking and guardrail repairs, Monday, October 25, through Wednesday, October 27, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-564 West Runway Tunnel – Motorists should expect single lane closures in the I-564 Runway Tunnel for emergency generator installation and pumping system repairs, Monday, October 25, through Friday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. I-464 South - Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at Main Street (Exit 5) for overhead sign maintenance, Monday, October 25, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. I-264 West - Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at Ballentine Boulevard (Exit 12) for overhead sign maintenance, Thursday, October 28, and Friday, October 29, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. I-264 East – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures from the I-264 Interchange to Newtown Road on- and off-ramps for soil test borings, Sunday, October 24, through Wednesday, October 27, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-264 East – Motorists should expect a shoulder closure at the I-264 interchange for soil test boring, Thursday, October 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from the I-264 Interchange (Exit 284) to 15th View (Exit 272) for pavement repairs, Sunday, October 24, through Thursday, October 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from the I-264 Interchange (Exit 284) to 15th View (Exit 272) for roadway sweeping, Sunday, October 24, through Thursday, October 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Hampton Boulevard Grading Project Motorists should expect a traffic shift on Hampton Boulevard onto a newly created detour road. The six-lane detour roadway was constructed as part of the Hampton Boulevard Grade Separation Project. The detour road will provide access to both NIT and NAS facilities, while maintaining the same vehicle capacity as the current Hampton Boulevard. CHESAPEAKE I-64 East/West Restorative Pavement Project – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the Bowers Hill Interchange to the I-464 Interchange, Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for restorative pavement maintenance work. Work will include patching isolated concrete pavement, increasing the width of the inside shoulder and replacing two lifts of asphalt. These paving operations will continue Sunday through Thursday until the end of August 2011. I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures from I-264 Interchange (Exit 299) to Battlefield Boulevard (Exit 290) for guardrail repair, drainage improvements and paving operations, Sunday, October 24, through Friday, October 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should be alert for detours associated with on- and off-ramp closures. Motorists should also expect shoulder closures. Mt. Pleasant Road South – Motorists should expect a westbound road closures at the intersection of Mt. Pleasant Road and Fentress Airfield Road for utility relocation operations, Monday, October 25, through Thursday, October 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert for flagging operations. GILMERTON BRIDGE Route 13 - Motorists may experience traffic delays due to daytime flagging operations in the project work zone, stopping traffic in both directions for up to 10 minutes. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution as work crews repair barrier walls on the traffic side of the wall. Motorists are encouraged to use the I-64 High Rise Bridge as an alternate route to avoid delays. For more information, please visit the project website. VIRGINIA BEACH I-264 East/West - Motorists should expect ramp closures at Lynnhaven Parkway (Exit 19) for pavement marking and guardrail repairs, Monday, October 25, through Wednesday, October 27, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures between Lynnhaven Parkway (Exit 19) and Laskin Road (Exit 20) for bridge safety inspection, Monday, October 25, through Friday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures between First Colonial Road (Exit 21) and Birdneck Road (Exit 22) for bridge safety inspection, Monday, October 25, through Friday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at the London Boulevard overpass between Lynnhaven Parkway (Exit 19) and Laskin Road (Exit 20) for bridge safety inspection, Monday, October 25, through Friday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Newtown Road (Exit 15) to Rosemont Road (Exit 18) for roadway sweeping, Monday, October 25, through Friday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Witchduck Road North/South –Motorists should expect single median lane closures from Bonney Road to the I-264 Interchange on Witchduck Road and at Anvers Road and Witchduck Road for asphalt demolition, Monday, October 25, through Friday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CHESAPEAKE/SUFFOLK I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect single, alternating mobile lane closures between Bowers Hill and the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel for concrete roadway repairs, guardrail repairs and shoulder restoration, Sunday, October 24, through Thursday, October 28, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. SUFFOLK I-664 South – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures near the Bower’s Hill Interchange for overhead sign maintenance, Tuesday, October 26, and Wednesday, October 27, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. I-664 South - Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at the Western Freeway/Route 164 for overhead sign maintenance, Wednesday, October 27, and Thursday, October 28, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. ISLE OF WIGHT/SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY/SUSSEX Route 460 – Motorists should expect alternating mobile lane closures from the Suffolk/Isle of Wight County line to the Sussex/Prince George County Line for pavement marker inspection, Monday, October 25, and Tuesday, October 26, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Route 10 East/West – Motorists should expect single lane closures from Route 258 to Route 10 Business for paving operations, Monday, October 25, through Thursday, October 28, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, October 29, from 7 a.m. to noon. SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY Route 58 East – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures from Route 643 East/West to the Chesapeake city line, Monday, October 25, through Friday, October 29, from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Route 189 East/West – Motorists should be alert to a closure over the Blackwater Bridge on Route 189 for bridge maintenance from 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, through Friday, October 29 at 5:30 p.m. Motorists should be alert for detour signs in the area. GREENSVILLE COUNTY Route 58 East/West – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the Brunswick County line to Route 640 for shoulder repairs, Monday, October 25, through Friday, October 29, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. |
