New Assistant Principals at Jamestown, BerkeleyBy Amber Lester Kennedy Saturday, October 30, 2010 Two new assistant principals will be joining the staffs at Jamestown High School and Berkeley Middle School. Trici Boland will serve as the new assistant principal at Jamestown High School, while Amour Mickel will be the assistant principal at Berkeley Middle School. Boland most recently served as an assistant principal at Gloucester High School for three years. Prior to becoming an administrator, she taught high school English for 10 years. Boland practiced law before she pursued a career in education. She earned her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University , a master’s degree of law and letters from Boston University and her doctor of law degree from the University of Dayton. She possesses an administrative endorsement from Johns Hopkins University. Mickel taught in Newport News public schools for nine years, most recently as the English writing lead teacher and an instructor of students with learning disabilities at Mary Passage Middle School. Since 2007, she has served as Passage’s discipline team leader, developing incentives for students to build character and act appropriately. Mickel earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from George Mason University in 1992 and holds a master’s degree in education administration and leadership. She also holds a Highly Qualified Certificate for Mathematics from the College of William and Mary and earned Professional Licensure for the State of Virginia from Old Dominion University in 2005. |
