York-Poquoson Sheriff's investigators are looking into a Craigslist sale gone awry.

The victim was selling a gold, clear, princess-cut diamond ring and agreed to meet the buyer Nov. 4 around 8 p.m. in the electronics section at the Tabb Walmart at the intersection of Route 17 and Victory Boulevard.

The victim showed the buyer the ring, and accepted an undisclosed amount of cash for the ring as he handed it over. The victim later found out the cash was counterfeit.

The suspect was described as a black male, possibly in his 20s. He had a scar near his left eye and wore a big black coat and a red hat.

The victim told investigators the "buyer" seemed extremely intoxicated or high. The "buyer" asked if the victim wanted to buy a TV, offering to show the victim some that were in the back of his car, a green Ford Explorer. The victim declined and left the store.

There was another black male, who was apparently with the suspect. He looked at televisions during the exchange of ring and counterfeit cash, and did not have any contact wth the victim.

Anyone with information about this crime should call the Crime Line at 1-888 LOCK-U-UP.

Curiosity only?...wouldn' t being intoxicated and wanting to also "sell" goods out of the back of a vehicle be a small CLUE as to the veracity of the meeting and sale of such a ring? Just asking.....
