Large Weekend Auction Unloads A Few PropertiesWednesday, November 17, 2010 Saturday’s auction of more than 40 residential and commercial properties belonging to the Ware family ended with only a few properties sold, and several more in negotiation, including an area at Anderson’s Corner and the 25-acre Colonial Towne Plaza. Martha Ware, 89, aimed to sell a few hundred acres of Ware family trust properties through Express Auctioneers Linda and Larry Makowski Saturday. Some of the properties include the family’s 25-plus acre Anderson’s Corner holdings, which cover two corners of the intersection of Route 60 and State Route 30; the 25-acre Colonial Towne Plaza property, which is home to the Williamsburg Brass Shop; and the family’s 109-acre farm off Mt. Pleasant Road.According to Larry Makowski, two properties sold to the highest bidder and about six are pending, including some of the waterfront residential properties on Hicks Island Road in Lanexa. He also said the Anderson’s Corner property and the Colonial Towne Plaza property are in negotiation, but he wouldn’t elaborate on who was interested in the areas or whether it was the same party for both properties. W.Walker Ware, Martha’s son and real estate broker and President of Ware Creek Real Estate, didn’t return a phone call about the sale Tuesday. To see a list of the properties that were up for sale and for more details, read a previous story or visit the Ware Creek Real Estate website. |
