Manhunt in York for Suspect in Computer Store Theft

York County sheriff's deputies were searching for a man suspected of stealing a pair of computers Thursday afternoon from a Route 17 store.

Deputies were called just after 3 p.m. to the Connecting Point Computer Center located in the Heritage Square Shopping Center in the 4300 block of Route 17. A man had just fled the store with two computers, getting into a vehicle that took off.

A few minutes later a deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description broadcast and attempted to stop it. The vehicle's driver attempted to elude the deputy, but instead drove into a ditch in the 1200 block of Dare Road.

Both the driver and a passenger fled the vehicle; the passenger was immediately apprehended.

Deputies established a perimeter and K9 unit assisted in the search for the driver, who had not been located by early evening.

The driver is described as a black male in his mid-30s and about 5'8" tall. He wore blue jeans, a brown shirt and white cap.

Charges are pending against the passenger, who was not named.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
