Video Captures Armed Robbery at York Motel

The York County Sheriff's Office released a video, taken by a surveillance camera posted above the front clerk's post at the Days Inn in the 700 block of Lightfoot Road, that depicts the crime as it unfolds in less than 30 seconds. The video shows the masked suspect entering through the motel's front door into the lobby around 11:30 p.m. The suspect displays a black, semi-automatic firearm while leaping over the counter and instructing the clerk to open the cash drawer.

The clerk complies, and the suspect empties the drawer into what appears to be a tan bag, then leaps back over the counter and out the front door. The clerk was not harmed.

Investigators do not know if the suspect fled on foot or in a waiting vehicle.

In the video the suspect's voice can be heard instructing the clerk. The suspect wore black, head to toe, except for a pair of blue latex surgical gloves.
