Christmas Town Opens FridayBy Amber Lester Kennedy Thursday, November 25, 2010
Busch Gardens' animated Christmas tree from 2009.
In its second year, the park’s holiday-themed attraction is touted to feature longer hours, more lights, more shows and special merchandise. Last year’s inaugural venture received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Spokesman Bruce Wilson told WY Daily in January that many families planned to make a visit a holiday tradition. The park will be open to visitors on weekends from Friday to Dec. 12 and then open every day except Christmas until New Year’s Eve. A general admission ticket costs $21.99 and is available for purchase at the park or online here. Keeping with the park’s European theme, each “country” in the park features a different holiday attraction. In Scotland, visitors can explore Highland Stables with Scottish sheep; in Germany’s Mistletoe Marketplace, shoppers can purchase handmade artisan gifts; in France, visitors can watch the antics of live penguins; in Ireland, Santa will share a Christmas story while Mrs. Claus shares cookies; and in the “North Pole,” families can visit Santa’s workshop. Five shows will also be presented, including “A Sesame Street Christmas,” in which Abby Cadabby learns about the spirit of giving. In Italy, a new show called “Miracles” will feature classical and contemporary dance accompanied by live singers. Special holiday meals will also be prepared at each of the park’s eateries. Festhaus Kaffee in Germany will offer gingerbread men, while Squire’s Grille in England will offer eggnog cheesecake and Brunswick stew in a bread bowl. Holiday revelers can even toast with a cup of wassail from Italy’s wine shop, Vino di Natale. For more information about the attractions, visit Christmas Town’s website here. |
