Early Morning House Fire Destroys Trailer, Residents SafeBy WYDaily Staff Thursday, December 02, 2010 A predawn mobile home fire Wednesday drew firefighters from James City and York County departments, who initially thought someone was trapped inside the home.Nearly two dozen firefighters and emergency medical units responded at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday to the fire in the first block of Gray Gables in the Country Village Mobile Home Park in the Grove community. James City District chief Bob Ryalls said the first units arriving had heard reports that someone might be inside, and found heavy smoke pouring from the home. Firefighters vented the home by cutting holes in the roof, then did a quick search and found that no one was inside. By 4:24 a.m. firefighters had knocked down a small fire in the living room, Ryalls said. The trailer received heavy smoke and heat damage. Virginia Power sent a crew to be sure power service to the home was secure. The local Red Cross also responded and provided shelter for the homeowner and his son. Ryalls said the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. No one was home when the fire broke out, Ryalls said. There were no reported injuries, he said. |
