The water system expansion will serve the new hospital and the southeast quadrant of the city. “Riverside Doctors Hospital, to be located within the city limits, will one day deliver high quality healthcare to our community, but Riverside has already made significant contributions to the quality of life in Williamsburg,” said Jack Tuttle, city manager. “The contribution to the future expansion of the city’s water system will add reliability and water storage capacity to benefit the entire city.” Riverside received Certificate of Public Need approval on May 19, 2009 to build its hospital, along with its Quarterpath Development, a master-planned community that will feature commercial, retail and residential space. The $72.4 million hospital will have 40 private acute care rooms, two operating rooms, a 24-hour Emergency Department and diagnostic services. The 20-acre campus sits between the intersection of Route 60 and Route 199 and the intersection of Quarterpath Road and Route 199. Construction on the road to Riverside Doctors Hospital began in September and is scheduled to be complete in April 2011. Construction on the medical campus will begin then and is expected to reach substantial completion in late October 2012. |
