VDOT Lane Closure Forecast: Dec. 12-18

vdotlogoStarting Monday, Dec. 13 around 1 p.m. a new traffic signal will be blinking at the intersection of Route 60 and the James City County Fire Station in Grove.

The new signal will operate as an emergency signal to allow emergency vehicles safe access to the highway from James City Fire Department's Station Two.

On Wednesday, likely around 1 p.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation will activate the signal for permanent use. VDOT generally operates a signal in a flashing mode to draw driver attention to a new signal location.

In other traffic news, VDOT publishes the following scheduled highway lane closures that may affect traffic in Hampton Roads. These closures are subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforeseen events. Other closures may occur that do not appear on this report.

For current traffic and travel information, visit the VDOT website, call 511, call the TrafficLine at 757-361-3016 or listen to 610AM.

Nancy, you are correct. Nora Chivers of VDOT checked with the engineer and the new signal is up in front of the Grove station. It was VDOT's announcement error - thanks for letting us know.

I believe this work is in the Grove area of the county (Station 2) rather than the Toano area (Station 1). This article confused me, as I looked for a new signal in Toano and found none.
