Weather-Related Closings, Delays for Monday

Snow day: The weekend's snowstorm left quite a deposit in the Historic Triangle, causing businesses and government offices to either remain closed or delay their openings. If your organization has weather-related cancellations and you want to get the word out, email us at closings@wydaily.com. We will be updating our list throughout the day and night, and for as long as weather conditions affect the usual goings-on in the Historic Triangle. Also, if your business is open today, feel free to send word of that. We'll post what's open at the bottom of this list.

Government
James City County offices
, community centers and convenience centers will be closed Monday, December 27. Earlier plans were to open at noon, but county officials re-evaluated conditions in the morning and decided to remain closed. Monday's Parks and Recreation Holiday Break Program is canceled. Residents are advised to stay tuned to local media for the latest weather updates. County closings and weather-related information will be posted on the County website; Cox Cable channel 48; Facebook; and the County’s emergency hotline, (757) 875-2424. County residents can sign up to receive important emergency alerts, notifications and updates on their cell phones, e-mails, and more by clicking here. Text messaging charges may apply.

City of Williamsburg offices, City of Williamsburg offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 27. For updates and information, visit the City's emergency preparedness page, and/or Facebook and Twitter pages.Waller Mill Park and the Quarterpath Recreation Center will be closed Monday, Dec. 27. City trash collection scheduled for Monday will be postponed until Tuesday. Tuesday's trash pickup will occur Wednesday. Updates will be available on the city's website by clicking here.

Recycling - Curbside recycling scheduled for Monday has canceled been for James City County, Poquoson and York County.

Williamsburg Area Transit Authority is cancelling all WAT service, including the Williamsburg Trolley and service to Surry, on Monday, December 27.

Williamsburg Regional Library, the James City County Library and Mobile Library Services will be closed on Monday, Dec. 27. Users should check the library's website for updates.

Chesapeake Bank -
all branch locations delayed opening Monday, Dec. 27 until 10 a.m.

DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum -
The 1:30 and 4 p.m. performances of An Acoustic Christmas by the Miller Rowe Consort in the museum's Hennage Auditorium planned for Monday, Dec. 27 have been replaced by been replaced with Hammer Dulcimer Wonder and Joy with Timothy Seaman at the same times. The Miller Rowe Consort musicians are unable to travel here from South Carolina.

Dream Catchers
at the Cori Sikich Therapeutic Riding Center is closed Monday, Dec. 27, and Tuesday, Dec 28. Please call 757-566-1775 for updates.

The Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance
offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 27 due to weather.

Heritage Humane Society is closed Monday, Dec. 27. Essential personnel only should report.

Lamplighter Shoppe at 1322 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg will be closed Monday.

Salon Vivace will be closed Monday.

Sentara New Town Urgent Care will delay its opening until 10 a.m. Monday.

Williamsburg Community Foundation is closed Monday, Dec. 27.

OPEN TODAY
Colonial Williamsburg's DeWitt Wallace Museum, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and Museum Café are open today. The picture postcard Historic Area is open or operating as scheduled: Palace, Capitol, Courthouse, Magazine, Gaol, Wythe House – will remain open all day, Powell House, Randolph House. Charlton’s Coffeehouse, Christmas Decoration Walks, Visitor Center Café, Raleigh Tavern Bakery, King’s Arm Tavern – open for lunch and dinner, Chownings - open for lunch.

The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) is open. Crews worked round the clock to clear runways, taxiways and parking lots. Some flights are still experiencing delays, but many are arriving and departing as scheduled today. All passengers should check with their airlines before heading out to the airport and allow themselves extra time on the roadways.

Because garbage pickup is handled by multiple contractors, we suggest contacting your provider directly - either by checking online or by phone.

But what about the various JCC TRASH pickup companies that operate on Monday??? I had our stuff out for Kerkim at 6 am this morning, but I haven't heard them operating in the neighborhood at all this morning.

According to a city spokesman, "city crews are working around the clock to treat the roads, but please avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary and then exercise caution."

Recycling has been canceled for James City, York and Poquoson. There will not be a make-up day, so citizens should hold their recyclables until the next scheduled pick-up day. York residents are reminded that curbside recycling returns to a weekly pick-up schedule starting Monday, Jan. 3.
