New Year's Holiday Closings

The New Year's holiday means it is not business as usual for the municipalities. Below is a list of holiday schedules for area government offices. If your business will be closed for the holiday and you'd like it listed, email closings@wydaily.com and we'll post it as we update this list.

Government
James City County - Government offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 31. The James City/Williamsburg Recreation Center and James River Community Center will close at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31 and will be closed Saturday, Jan. 1. The Williamsburg Regional and James City County libraries will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31 and remain closed Saturday, Jan. 1. Virginia Cooperative Extension will be closed Friday, Dec. 31. James City County-Williamsburg Social Services will be closed Friday, Dec. 31. The county's Garbage Transfer Station will be closed Saturday, Jan. 1. Williamsburg-James City County Circuit Courts will be closed Friday, Dec. 31. Convenience centers and recycling dropoff will be closed Saturday, Jan. 1 (curbside recycling is unaffected).

City of Williamsburg - Government offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 31.

York County - County offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 31 and Monday, Jan. 3. York-Poquoson Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court will be closed Friday, Dec. 31. York-Poquoson Social Services will be closed Friday, Dec. 31 and Monday, Jan. 3. Virginia Cooperative Extension will be closed Friday, Dec. 31. York County libraries will be closed Friday, Dec. 31 through Monday, Jan. 3. Waste Management Center and Administrative Offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 31 and Monday, Jan. 3. Transfer Station, Recycling Drop-Off Facility and Compost Facility were scheduled to be closed Saturday, Jan. 1 but will now be open.

Transportation
Williamsburg Area Transit Authority will operate WAT buses on regular schedule from
6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. This includes half-hour service from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the Red, Gray, Orange, Blue and Tan Lines.

The Williamsburg Trolley will operate until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day in support of the area’s First Night activities.

There will be no bus or trolley service on Saturday, New Year’s Day. Regular service for WAT buses and the Williamsburg Trolley will resume on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011.

Businesses
Kyrie Designs, 1490 Quarterpath Rd, Unit 5E, Williamsburg will be closed Saturday, Jan. 1.
