VDOT Lane Closure Forecast: Jan. 2-8By WYDaily Staff Sunday, January 02, 2011 In an effort to keep you informed, VDOT publishes the following scheduled highway lane closures that may affect traffic in Hampton Roads. These closures are subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforeseen events. HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE-TUNNEL I-64 East – Motorists should expect overnight single lane closures Sunday through Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the roadway lighting upgrade to the I-64 East Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Westbound traffic will not be affected and no weekend closures are planned. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2011. Motorists are encouraged to use I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel to avoid delays. Take Exit 264 to access I-664. Use exit 15A for Norfolk and Virginia Beach destinations. Use exit 15B for Chesapeake and Outer Banks destinations. For more project information, please visit the VDOT website. I-64 East – Motorists should expect lane closures at the HRBT for truss pipe removal, Monday, January 3, through Thursday, January 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. MONITOR-MERRIMAC MEMORIAL BRIDGE-TUNNEL I-664 South – Motorists should expect a single lane closure in the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel for tunnel washing, Monday, January 3, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-664 North – Motorists should expect single lane closures at the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel for drain cleaning operations, Monday, January 3, through Thursday, January 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. DOWNTOWN TUNNEL I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the Downtown Tunnel for tunnel washing operations, eastbound, Wednesday, January 5, and westbound, Thursday, January 6, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures in the Downtown Tunnel for tunnel sweeping operations, Tuesday, January 4, and Friday, January 7, from midnight to 4 a.m. MIDTOWN TUNNEL Route 58 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures in the Midtown Tunnel for tunnel washing operations, Tuesday, January 4, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. NORFOLK I-564 East - Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at the Terminal Boulevard overpass for overhead sign maintenance, from Thursday, January 6, at 9 p.m. to Friday, January 7, at 3 a.m. I-264 West – Motorists should expect lane closures at the I-64 Interchange for test soil boring, Monday, January 3, through Thursday, January 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Indian River Road to 15th View for pothole repairs, Monday, January 3, through Thursday, January 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Hampton Boulevard Grading Project Motorists should expect a traffic shift on Hampton Boulevard onto a newly created detour road. The six-lane detour roadway was constructed as part of the Hampton Boulevard Grade Separation Project. The detour road will provide access to both NIT and NAS facilities, while maintaining the same vehicle capacity as the current Hampton Boulevard. CHESAPEAKE/NORFOLK/PORTSMOUTH I-464 North/South – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the I-64 Interchange to the I-264 Interchange for overhead sign panel replacement, Tuesday, January 4, through Thursday, January 6, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. CHESAPEAKE I-64 East/West Restorative Pavement Project – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the Bowers Hill Interchange to the I-464 Interchange, Tuesday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for restorative pavement maintenance work. Work will include patching isolated concrete pavement, increasing the width of the inside shoulder and replacing two lifts of asphalt. These paving operations will continue Sunday through Thursday until the end of August 2011. Mount Pleasant Road North – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures at Fentress Airfield Road for clearing associated with lane widening, Monday, January 3, through Thursday, January 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. GILMERTON BRIDGE Route 13 East/West – Motorists should expect daytime closures include flagging operations in the project work zone, stopping traffic in both directions for up to 10 minutes. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution as work crews repair barrier walls on the traffic side of the wall. Motorists are encouraged to use the I-64 High Rise Bridge as an alternative route to avoid delays. For more information, please visit the project website. CHESAPEAKE/SUFFOLK I-664 North/South - Motorists should expect lane closures between the Bowers Hill interchange and the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel for concrete patching, Monday, January 3, through Thursday, January 6, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. NORFOLK/VIRGINIA BEACH I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from City Hall Avenue to Parks Avenue for pothole repairs, Monday, January 3, through Thursday, January 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. VIRGINIA BEACH I-264 East – Motorists should expect lane closures at Witchduck Road including a partial closure of the exit ramp (Exit 16) for soil test borings, Wednesday, January 5, and Thursday, January 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-264 East– Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at Rosemont Road for overhead sign maintenance, from 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, through 3 a.m. Wednesday, January 5. Lynnhaven Parkway North – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures before the I-264 overpass for overhead sign maintenance, from 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, through 3 a.m. Thursday, January 6. |
