JCC Supes Choose New Chairman

JCC_Mary_JonesJames City County Supervisors elected Berkeley representative Mary Jones as Chairman Monday, and chose Bruce Goodson as Vice Chairman.

Jones said she is looking forward to continuing her service to citizens of the county. “As we face the upcoming budget and other important challenges ahead, I’ll look forward to working collaboratively with my fellow Board members and keeping our communications open,” she said.

Jones has been on the board since 2007, and served as vice chairman in 2010. Goodson, who represents the Roberts district, has been on the board since 1999, and served as chairman in 2006 and 2008. Both will serve for one year.

At their organizational meeting Monday, the board also approved its meeting calendar for the year, which is available on the county website.

A fiscal concervative is welcomed at the helm at this critical time of revaluating the distribution of tax dollars. I hope Ms. Jones can live up to her indications and, with support from all of us that want to reign-in waste, put a stop to "go-along-to-get-along" funding of outdated programs.

Concervative? Indications? Reign-in?

Clearly the Party of No is just that. No information, no questions, no reason to explain. Just take what we give you and be grateful. No wonder my tea pot runneth over!

Seriously, she was elected back in 2007. Her credentials should have been challenged then; not four years later because she was appointed to the Chair. Once one is elected to the Board, the other members decide who will "lead" them. There must be enough trust by the other members of the Board to put her in this position. She's not the only one on the Board who gets to make all the decisions.

What are Ms. Jones' educational and professional credentials?
