Debate Set for 91st SeatBy WY Daily Staff Wednesday, January 12, 2011 A York County conservative group is hosting a debate Thursday between candidates vying for the 91st district seat left vacant after Del. Tom Gear resigned last month. Gear resigned Dec. 30, and Governor Bob McDonnell has set March 8 as the date for the special election to fill Gear’s seat. The 91st district will remain unrepresented for the 46-day General Assembly session which begins Wednesday.The York County conservative group the Tuscany Forum is hosting a debate Thursday evening between four candidates: Chad Green, an attorney in Seaford; Gordon Helsel, Jr., mayor of Poquoson; Teresa Vanasse Schmidt, a resident of Fox Hill and Chris Stewart, a member of Hampton’s city council. The debate will be moderated by Realtor Gregg Garrett. Anyone else interested in running for the seat is also invited to participate Thursday; the last day to file as a candidate is Friday. Jan. 21, at 5 p.m. The debate will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Tabb High School Cafeteria on Big Bethel Road. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
