Med Express Joins Riverside

Med Express, a local urgent care facility, has joined Riverside Medical Group as of January 1.

Med Express was started in 2004 by three local physicians, Dr. Michael Renforth, Dr. Chan Park and Dr. Michael Rogowski. The urgent care network has three locations in Williamsburg, Yorktown and Newport News.

According to a Riverside press release, the addition of Med Express will keep Riverside patients who need to be seen quickly out of the emergency room, which will save on insurance costs and will lower wait times for patients.

New healthcare legislation means already-crowded emergency rooms will see more patients and insurance companies are taking measures to direct patients to lower-cost alternatives, so “our affiliation with Med Express couldn’t be more timely,” according to Dr. Barry Gross, Chief Medical Officer for Riverside.

“Their proven expertise in operating urgent care centers is a welcome addition to Riverside, one that is a win/win for our physicians and our patients.”

The Med Express locations will join Riverside’s network of urgent care facilities in Williamsburg, Hayes and Tappahannock. Med Express is open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and no appointment is needed.

I agree with Ann! I've been amazed at their efficient, gentle, precise care & have had wonderful experiences with them over the past few years. Knowing that they'll take such good care of my children in a timely fashion always takes much of the worry out of the emergency at hand! PLEASE DON'T Change!!!

I hope this change does not change the way Med Express does business. They are very efficient and do a great job at getting patients seen and out. I often go there with my children instead of Urgent Care due to this so please don't adopt Riverside's management style. Thanks
