Diggs Will Run Again for York-Poquoson SheriffBy WYDaily Staff Tuesday, February 01, 2011
Sheriff Danny Diggs
Diggs, a Republican, is a Poquoson native and Seaford resident. He is active in community affairs, most recently as a core member of the Tuscany Forum, a group of York conservatives who meet monthly at Tuscany's Coffee House. Additionally, Diggs currently serves on the Board of Directors of the York County Boys and Girls Club and is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Grafton. One of Diggs' campaign promises during his first campaign was to achieve accreditation for the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office, which occurred in 2003. The department was reaccredited in 2007. “I have enjoyed serving the citizens of York and Poquoson as their sheriff," Diggs said in a press release announcing his re-election bid. "Over the years, the trust that the public has for the Sheriff’s Office has grown. I have to give the credit to the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office. They are the ones who everyday, 24 hours a day, put their lives on the line; and they serve our community in a caring and compassionate manner, always treating people with courtesy and respect. I am proud to be their leader.” |
