In an effort to keep you informed, VDOT publishes the following scheduled highway lane closures that may affect traffic in Hampton Roads. These closures are subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforeseen events. Other closures may occur that do not appear on this report.

JAMES RIVER BRIDGERoute 17 South – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures on the James River Bridge for beam end repair, Monday, February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Route 17 North – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures on the James River Bridge for equipment staging, Monday, February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE-TUNNELI-64 East – Motorist should expect overnight single lane closures Sunday through Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the roadway lighting upgrade to the I-64 East Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Westbound traffic will not be affected and no weekend closures are planned. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2011.
Motorists are encouraged to use I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel to avoid delays. Take Exit 264 to access I-664. Use exit 15A for Norfolk and Virginia Beach destinations. Use exit 15B for Chesapeake and Outer Banks destinations.

I-64 West – Motorists should expect single lane closures for tunnel drain cleaning, Sunday, February 6, through Thursday, February 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
MIDTOWN TUNNEL
Route 58 East/West – Motorists should expect alternating single lane closures for lighting repairs and drainage operations, Monday, February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
DOWNTOWN TUNNEL
I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect single, mobile, alternating lane closures for tunnel sweeping, Tuesday, February 7, and Friday, February 12, from midnight to 5 a.m.
NORFOLK
Hampton Boulevard Grading Project
Hampton Boulevard traffic continues to be temporarily detoured between Mapleshade Avenue and B Avenue. The six-lane detour will remain in place until the underpass is constructed. Project completion is scheduled for winter 2013.
I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at the Little Creek Road overpass for bridge safety inspection, Monday, February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I-64 West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Norview Avenue to 15th View for pothole repairs, Saturday, February 12, from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I-64 West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures at the Virginia Beach Boulevard on-ramp for overhead sign maintenance, Tuesday, February 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I-264 East – Motorists should expect single lane closures at the I-64 Interchange for overhead sign maintenance, Monday, February 7, through Thursday, February 10, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
I-64 West – Motorists should expect single lane closures at the I-264 Interchange for overhead sign maintenance, Monday, February 7, through Thursday, February 10, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
I-564 West Runway Tunnel – Motorists should expect single lane closures from the ascent of the tunnel through the exit portal for generator maintenance and pumping system component installation, Thursday, February 10, and Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
I-264 West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures at the I-64 Interchange collector ramp for pothole repairs, Monday, February 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from City Hall Avenue to Military Highway for pothole repairs, Thursday, February 10, and Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from City Hall Avenue to Parks Avenue for drain cleaning operations, Tuesday, February 8, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, February 6, through Thursday, February 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
I-64 West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Indian River Road to Chesapeake Boulevard for pothole repairs, Tuesday, February 8, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-464 South – Motorists should expect lane closures from the I-64 Interchange to Main Street for overhead sign maintenance, Sunday, February 6, through Thursday, February 10, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
I-264 East – Motorists should expect single lane closures from the Bowers Hill Interchange to the I-464 Interchange for overhead sign maintenance, Sunday, February 6, through Thursday, February 10, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
CHESAPEAKE/NORFOLK/VIRGINIA BEACH
I-64 East/West– Motorists should expect alternating mobile lane closures from the High Rise Bridge to the I-264 Interchange for pothole repairs, Wednesday, February 9, from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m.
CHESAPEAKE
I-64 East/West Restorative Pavement Project – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the Bowers Hill Interchange to the I-464 Interchange, Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for restorative pavement maintenance work. Work will include patching isolated concrete pavement, increasing the width of the inside shoulder and replacing two lifts of asphalt. These paving operations will continue Sunday through Thursday until the end of August 2011.
I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple, alternating lane closures from the Rotunda Bridge near the I-264 Interchange (Exit 299) to Battlefield Boulevard (Exit 290) for shoulder restoration and guardrail replacement, Sunday, February 6, through Friday, February 11, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should also be alert for on and off ramp closures.
I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at the Battlefield Boulevard overpass for bridge safety inspection, Monday, February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I-464 South – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at the Barnes Road overpass near Military Highway for overhead sign maintenance, from 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, through 3 a.m. on Thursday, February 10.
I-464 North/South – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from the I-64 Interchange to Freeman Avenue for pothole repairs, Monday, February 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
GILMERTON BRIDGE
Route 13 East/West – Motorists should expect daytime closures including flagging operations in the project work zone, stopping traffic in both directions for up to 10 minutes.
Motorists are asked to use extreme caution as work crews repair barrier walls on the traffic side of the wall.

I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures between the Bowers Hill Interchange and the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel for guardrail repairs and construction maintenance activities, Sunday, February 6, through Thursday, February 10, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
PORTSMOUTH
I-264 East – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at Des Moines Avenue for overhead sign maintenance, from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, to 3 a.m., Wednesday, February 9.
VIRGINIA BEACH
Witchduck Road North/South – Motorists should expect single median lane closures from Bonney Road to the I-264 Interchange on Witchduck Road and on Bonney Road for asphalt placement and storm drainage installation, Monday, February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at the Providence Road Overpass for bridge safety inspection, Monday, February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
I-264 West – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at Witchduck Road for overhead sign maintenance, from 9 p.m., Thursday, February 10, through 3 a.m., Friday, February 11.
I-264 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures at Independence Boulevard for overhead sign maintenance, Tuesday, February 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert for shoulder closures in the area.
I-264 West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Parks Avenue to Witchduck Road for pothole repair, Saturday, February 12, from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.
ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY
Route 17 North – Motorists should expect single lane closures on Route 17 North at Route 659 for final paving of surface asphalt on turn lane, Monday February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY
Route 189 South Quay Road North/South – Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at the Blackwater River Bridge for bridge safety inspection, Monday, February 7, through Friday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
