County to Hold Public Forum on Proposed Land Preservation Tool

James City County is holding a public forum Thursday on one tool the county is considering implementing to help preserve rural lands.

The county will host the meeting Thursday evening so any interested citizens can share their thoughts and get information about transfer of development rights (TDR). This is a tool which would allow shifting development rights from one area that the county wishes to preserve to another area that is targeted for growth.

The county is investigating this sort of program for possibly use and is currently conducting a feasibility study on the idea. For more information on the process, visit the county website.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Warhill High School Auditorium. All landowners, residents, developers, businesses, and interested parties are invited to attend.

If you are unable to attend the forum but still want to provide feedback, fill out a survey or call the planning department at 253-6685 for additional information.

Quoting More Information:
This article doesn't contain enough information ... a public forum is scheduled Thursday ... as in today or next week, February 17?

It is newspaper style, More Information, to use the day and not the date when the event is within the next week. When it's further out, it is newspaper style to use the date and not the day.
So, to answer your question, the forum is today, Thursday, Feb. 10.
