Run for Dream Adds Fun Run for Kids

run-for-dreamThe inaugural Run for the Dream 8K Run/Walk and Half Marathon has added a run for kids to the lineup of races scheduled for May 21-22 in Williamsburg.

The Fun Run, for kids 14 and younger, will take place at 10 a.m. May 21 at the College of William and Mary’s Zable Stadium.

General registration for the Fun Run is $10. All participants will receive a runner’s bib and a medal. Participants can choose to run either a 100-meter sprint, 400-meter dash or a one-mile run, exiting the stadium onto the campus. Course marshals and police officers will be present to ensure the safety of all participants.

Middle school students in Williamsburg-James City County, York County and Newport News can register for the Fit to Run, Fit to Dream 8K Run/Walk at a reduced rate. Any runner interested in participating in the Fun Run, 8K run or half marathon can register online here. The first 3,000 registrants for the half marathon will receive a free pass to Busch Gardens Williamsburg to be used the same weekend. All runners will receive a free pass to Colonial Williamsburg.

Proceeds from the race will benefit An Achievable Dream school in Newport News and military Wounded Warrior programs, which assist and advocate for severely wounded, ill and injured members of the Armed Forces and their families. Read more about the race here.

Awesome! Hope "Run for the Dream" will be an annual event for Williamsburg! My family, friends and I are signing up and look forward to an event filled weekend!

Now this is how local attractions and organizers of events can really make a BANG for the entire area. Great Cause and a professionally organized event that will bring lots of visitors to ring everyones registers and fill the localities coffers. Now, how about MORE of such events and cooperation between the localities and attractions. More can get done working together.
