Work on Railroad Crossing Prompts Lightfoot Detour

CSX railroad crews will close Lightfoot Road (Route 646) between Old Mooretown Road (Route 603) and Richmond Road (Route 60) at the railroad crossing on Monday, March 14, at 7 a.m. CSX crews will replace rail and ties as well as reconstructed a paved crossing.

The work is expected to take the better part of two days, with plans to reopen the road on Tuesday, March 15 at 5 p.m.

Motorists should use the following detour during the closure: From Lightfoot Road, use Old Mooretown Road to Airport Road (Route 645) to Richmond Road. The route is reversed for traffic traveling from Richmond Road to Lightfoot Road.

Motorists are encouraged to visit the 511 website for more information, call 511 or listen to Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 610 AM or call the Traffic Information Line at 757-361-3016 for current traffic and travel information.

As the alternate route, wouldn't 199 work better, especially of coming from or going to the west? Or will that get me lost?
