Workshop On Opening a Small BusinessBy WYDaily Staff Wednesday, March 16, 2011 A local law firm will be hosting a workshop Thursday afternoon on the legal issues surrounding opening a small business. The workshop is sponsored by SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business,” a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small businesses nationwide. Jeremy Johnson, a partner at Johnson Gasink & Baxter, LLP, will share an overview of options and guidance for small business owners along with help in selecting the best course of action.Participants will learn the different forms of business entities and the strengths and weaknesses of each, how to work with the State Corporation Commission, when an attorney may be needed, regulatory maintenance and compliance, and managing details. The cost is $24 in advance (by Wednesday) or $29 cash or check at the door. The seminar will be held at the Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance building at 421 North Boundary Street from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Register online or call 229-6511 for details. |
