Workshop On Opening a Small Business

A local law firm will be hosting a workshop Thursday afternoon on the legal issues surrounding opening a small business.

The workshop is sponsored by SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business,” a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small businesses nationwide. Jeremy Johnson, a partner at Johnson Gasink & Baxter, LLP, will share an overview of options and guidance for small business owners along with help in selecting the best course of action.

Participants will learn the different forms of business entities and the strengths and weaknesses of each, how to work with the State Corporation Commission, when an attorney may be needed, regulatory maintenance and compliance, and managing details.

The cost is $24 in advance (by Wednesday) or $29 cash or check at the door. The seminar will be held at the Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance building at 421 North Boundary Street from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Register online or call 229-6511 for details.

being that this is for entrepreneurs wouldnt it make more sense to hold this in the evening or over the course of two evenings. Most small businesses operate on a tight profit margin while they are still "small" and taking a day off during the week is greatly affecting they billable time and productivity. just a thought... I would love to attend but i have to work.
