VDOT Asks for Citizen Input on I-64 Corridor

vdotlogoRICHMOND — The Virginia Department of Transportation will host citizen information meetings - one today and one tomorrow - regarding the agency’s study of some 75 miles of the Interstate 64 corridor from I-95 in Richmond to I-664 in Hampton.

The study's purpose is to identify transportation needs within the I-64 corridor and to evaluate the impact of proposed improvements to meet those needs. An Environmental Impact Statement is being prepared as part of this study in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The study is scheduled for completion in early 2014.

The two citizen information meetings have been scheduled as part of the NEPA process, so citizens can provide input into the scope of issues to be addressed in the study.

The first meeting will be held today, March 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the City Center Conference Room, Fountain Plaza II, 700 Town Center Drive, in the Oyster Point area of Newport News. The second meeting will be held on Thursday, March 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the New Kent Welcome Center Facility, 7324 Vineyards Parkway in New Kent.

Representatives from VDOT will be present to answers questions regarding the study. Click here for additional information on the project from VDOT’s website.
