Northeast Triangle Focus Group Hosts Meeting WednesdayBy Amber Lester Kennedy Tuesday, April 12, 2011 The Northeast Triangle Focus Group will discuss the vision for the commercial areas of Second Street/Penniman Road and Capitol Landing Road at its public meeting Wednesday. The meeting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Williamsburg Community Building. Business owners and employees in the area are encouraged to attend the public meeting. Residents and businesses are also invited to post suggestions for the area online here. City Council appointed the seven-member focus group in December, directing the members to come up with a vision for the area bounded by Merrimac Trail, Capitol Landing Road and Second Street. The group will spend 2011 examining the land usage, transportation needs, design expectations and more of the residents and business owners in the Northeast part of the city. At the end of the year, they will deliver their findings in a report to the public, take comments and then deliver a final version to the Planning Commission and City Council. The report’s findings will be incorporated into the city’s next Comprehensive Plan. The Northeast Triangle Focus Group is co-chaired by Sarah Stafford, a member of the Planning Commission and resident of the area, and Mickey Chohany, owner of Second Street American Bistro. The other members are developer Jim Bennett, business owner Bobby Bland, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s Director of Property Planning Tory Gussman, homeowner Sharon Caldwell and realtor Ed Richardson, a member of the city’s Economic Development Authority.
