Jamestown Principal Hired By Gloucester

Jamestown High School Principal Chuck Wagner will become the assistant superintendent of instruction for Gloucester Public Schools.

The Gloucester School Board approved Wagner’s hiring in a 6-1 vote on Wednesday. He will start his position July 1, according to Assistant Superintendent John Hutchinson.

Wagner has served as principal at Jamestown for six years. He earned a doctorate from the William and Mary School of Education in 2008.

I am suprised at the support - I had only heard of contention from parents and staff concerning this principal. But hope all goes well in Gloucester for him.

Couldn't agree with Les more. Dr. Wagner is admired by students, parents, and staff--a rare combination. He sees a chance to make a diffference for the kids in Gloucester, something no one can do in WJCC with everyone squabbling for his or her own agenda in WJCC. Let's hope Constantino can get these clowns in line.

Losing Wagner is really a loss. He is an asset to the school system. However, the article does not explain the one dissenting vote in Gloucester. Who was the board member and why did he or she not like Wagner?

Gloucester's gain is our loss. JHS will definitely miss Chuck Wagner. But considering the state of the WJC School Board and Administration in general, who can blame him for leaving? Best wishes, Principal Wagner!
