Williamsburg Notebook: Construction Begins on Jamestown Rd. Sidewalk

Construction on a new sidewalk along Jamestown Road started Wednesday and will continue until May 11.

Messer Contracting started work yesterday to build the sidewalk along 199 near Jamestown Road. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane between Brookwood Drive and Jamestown Road. The estimated completion date is May 11.

Call for green residents

The City of Williamsburg is accepting applications for its Green Residential Challenge.

The City’s Green Team invites residents to show how they’re working to shrink their carbon footprint. Participants will be entered in a drawing for recycling bins with wheels and lids, filled with green items from city businesses.

The deadline to enter is April 22 and applications are available here or by calling 220-6140.

Northeast Triangle Focus Group Meets Monday

The Northeast Triangle Focus Group will meet at 2 p.m. on April 25. Its most recent public meeting, held on April 13, is available for video streaming here.

The group invites the public to share their opinions about the future of the Northeast part of the city. Share ideas on the open forum here, or take a survey here. Citizens can also stay updated on the process on Facebook here.

Sounds like a Rt.199 sidewalk, not a Jamestown Rd. sidewalk.
