For the second time in 10 days Williamsburg police are investigating the armed robbery of a local bank, and believe the earlier robbery may be related to today's incident.

Four armed men entered the Citizens and Farmers Bank at 1167 Jamestown Road around 10:45 a.m. today (Friday), displaying weapons and demanding money.

All four suspects are described as black men varying in height, from 5'7" to 6'1", and weighing between 150 to 200 pounds. All four wore hooded jackets, bandannas and gloves.

The four made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, fleeing the bank on foot and in an unknown direction, police said.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Williamsburg Police Major Greg Riley said investigators are looking to connect this robbery with the April 12 armed robbery of the Chesapeake Bank at 1229 Lafayette St. In that incident, three men - all wearing hooded jackets, masks and gloves - held up the bank around 3:30 p.m. They fled on foot, possibly getting into a maroon-colored vehicle.

Police were able to obtain surveillance photos of the suspects in the Citizens and Farmers Bank robbery.

Anyone with information about the bank robbery should call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the Williamsburg police at 220-2331.

DUH! Not once did I, or anyone, mention GUNS being used in England!! There are other ways a "PERP" can rob. The GANG hitting this bank on Jamestown Rd. and the one on Lafayette figured they had/have a "sure thing" by using three or four, COVERED-UP, cowardly males, and they'll keep robbing until caught, SOON...please. Our concern, now, is for the safety of the employees and any customers inside at the time. And many thanks, too, for detailed descriptions issued by our local Police Dept....period!

I like the way Virginia Beach PD handled their most recent bank robbery. Once the robbers learn that it's not a healthy profession, they will stop.....or be stopped on a more terminal basis.

How can there be bank robberies in England? They outlawed guns so that just could not happen.

How can England have bank robberies with guns outlawed? That's impossible because the law outlaws weapons.

Give them the money and let the FBI solve the crime.

All the banks could put in costly systems like the person suggested (they are all around in Europe) but are also in very large cities, but when the robbers start shooting and taking hostages, what have you gained?

Do your banking on-line.

BUT WHAT IS BEING DONE, intelligently, to thwart, locally, these growing numbers of bank robberies? I "see" nothing. England utilizes a highly successful "vestibule system!" THAT plan is what we need in our town! The second door is closed sealing off the obvious PERP in, with any tell or bank official doing it. And how do we determine an obvious perp? Hoddie up and pulled down, with dark glasses...a "mask" covering the face...a hat pulled down over the face...duh!
Even more obviously a major point of safety-- our local employees out front in our banks and our customers in the lobby at the time! Their SAFETY is utmost, important, Williamsburg with our concerns. And don't even try any foolish rationalization s about "being unfair to anyone wearing a hoddie down...."
Oh, for the recorded record in England? Bank robberies have heavily subsided.

You keep building this place up like it's Newport News and pretty soon it will become Newport News.
