VDOT Lane Closure Forecast: April 24-30

vdotlogoIn an effort to keep you informed, VDOT publishes the following scheduled highway lane closures that may affect traffic in Hampton Roads. These closures are subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforeseen events. Other closures may occur which do not appear on this report.

HAMPTON/NEWPORT NEWS
I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from the I-64 Interchange (Exit 1) to Warwick Boulevard (Exit 5) for pavement repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

HAMPTON/NORFOLK
I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Mallory Street in Hampton (Exit 268) and the I-264 Interchange (Exit 284) in Norfolk for pavement repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

NEWPORT NEWS

I-64 East - Motorists should expect mobile lane closures at the Jefferson Avenue/Route 143 (Exit 247) on ramp for pavement marking, Tuesday, April 26, through Thursday, April 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at the Jefferson Avenue Overpass for bridge safety inspection, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE-TUNNEL

I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures for pavement repairs, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

DOWNTOWN TUNNEL
I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures in the Downtown Tunnel for sweeping, drain cleaning and grate repair operations, Monday, April 25, through and Friday, April 27, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the Downtown Tunnel for lighting repairs, Monday, April 25, through Thursday, April 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

NORFOLK
Hampton Boulevard Grading Project

Hampton Boulevard traffic continues to be temporarily detoured between Mapleshade Avenue and B Avenue. The six-lane detour will remain in place until the underpass is constructed. Project completion is scheduled for winter 2013.

I-64 East– Motorists should expect single lane closures between Northampton Boulevard (Exit 282) and the I-264 Interchange (Exit 284) for pavement marking, Tuesday, April 26, through Thursday, April 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-64 West - Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at Norview Avenue (Exit 279) for overhead sign removal, Monday, April 25, through Thursday, April 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-64 East - Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at the I-264 Interchange (Exit 284) for overhead sign removal, Monday, April 25, through Thursday, April 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-64 East – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures from Bayview Avenue (Exit 274) to 4th View (Exit 273) for bridge joint repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-64 East - Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures from Little Creek Road (Exit 276) to Bayview Avenue (Exit 274) for bridge joint repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-64 East - Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures at the I-264 Interchange (Exit 284) and Northampton Boulevard (Exit 282) for bridge joint repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-64 West - Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures between Military Highway (Exit 281) and Northampton Boulevard (Exit 282) for bridge joint repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-64 East/West - Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at the Granby Street Overpass for bridge safety inspection, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-264 West - Motorists should expect single lane closures at South Military Highway (Exit 13) for overhead sign removal, Monday, April 25, through Thursday, April 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 West - Motorists should expect single lane closures at the I-64 Interchange (Exit 14) for overhead sign removal, Monday, April 25, through Thursday, April 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 East - Motorists should expect single lane closures at the I-64 Interchange Overpass for overhead sign removal, Monday, April 25, through Thursday, April 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 West - Motorists should expect multiple lane closures between the Broad Creek Bridge and Ballentine Boulevard (Exit 12) for concrete pavement repair, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-564 North/South - Motorists should expect alternating lane closures at the I-564/I-64 Interchange for bridge safety inspection, Wednesday, April 27, through Friday, April 29, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-564 North/South - Motorists should expect alternating lane closures on I-564 north and southbound for roadway sweeping operations, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

I-64 East/West HOV Reversible Roadway - Motorists should expect alternating lane closures on the Reversible Roadway for roadway sweeping and drain cleaning operations, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

NORFOLK/VIRGINIA BEACH
I-264 East/West - Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-64 Interchange in Norfolk to the oceanfront for drain cleaning and sweeping operations, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-264 East - Motorists should expect multiple mobile lane closures between Newtown Road (Exit 15) and Witchduck Road (Exit 16), for bridge joint repair, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

NORFOLK/CHESAPEAKE

I-464 North/South - Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-64 Interchange (Exit 1) to Downtown Norfolk (Exit 6) for sweeping operations, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

PORTSMOUTH

Route 164 East – Motorists should expect multiple mobile lane closures between West Norfolk Road and Wesley Street, for overhead sign safety inspection, Monday, April 25, through Wednesday, April 27, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 West– Motorists should expect single lane closures at Victory Boulevard (Exit 3) for overhead sign maintenance, Tuesday, April 26, and Wednesday, April 27, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

I-264 West – Motorists should expect single lane closures from Portsmouth Boulevard (Exit 4) to Greenwood Drive (Exit 2) for overhead sign repairs, Wednesday, April 27, and Thursday, April 28, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 West – Motorists should expect single lane closures from Frederick Boulevard (Exit 5) to Victory Boulevard (Exit 3) for overhead sign repairs, Tuesday, April 26, and Wednesday, April 27, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 West – Motorists should expect single lane closures from Victory Boulevard (Exit 3) to the Bowers Hill Interchange (Exit 1) for overhead sign repairs, Thursday, April 28, and Friday, April 29, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Route 58 East/West - Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures between Harpers Avenue and London Boulevard for overhead sign safety inspection, Tuesday, April 26, and Wednesday, April 27, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Route 58 East/West - Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from the Midtown Tunnel to London Boulevard for overhead sign safety inspection, Wednesday, April 27, and Thursday, April 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

PORTSMOUTH/NORFOLK
I-264 East/West - Motorists should expect alternating mobile lane closures from Effingham Street in Portsmouth (Exit 7) to the I-64 Interchange (Exit 14) in Norfolk for pavement repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

CHESAPEAKE

I-64 East/West Restorative Pavement Project – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the Bowers Hill Interchange to the I-464 Interchange, Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for restorative pavement maintenance work.  Work will include patching isolated concrete pavement, increasing the width of the inside shoulder and replacing two lifts of asphalt. These paving operations will continue Sunday through Thursday until the end of August 2011.

Galberry Road Intersection Improvement - Route 13 South Military Highway – Motorists should expect lane closures at Cavalier Boulevard and Executive Drive on South Military Highway for intersection improvements to Galberry Road. The improvement project includes drainage system upgrades and the installation of left turn lane.  Crews will close the center lanes on South Military Highway at the Galberry Road intersection through the completion of the project in May 2011.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously in the work zone. Crews will be on the roadway Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Mount Pleasant Road – Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures on Mount Pleasant Road at Fall Ridge Lane and for paving and roadway widening, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Motorists should also expect flagging operations on Fentress Airfield Road during these construction activities.

I-64 East– Motorists should expect single lane closures at the Greenbrier Parkway Overpass for pavement marking, Tuesday, April 26, through Thursday, April 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-64 East– Motorists should expect single lane closures at the Greenbrier Parkway (Exit 289) for pavement marking, Tuesday, April 26, through Thursday, April 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-64 West– Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures at the I-464 Interchange (Exit 291) for overhead sign structure removal, Monday, April 25, through Thursday, April 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-464 North - Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at the Barnes Road overpass for overhead sign maintenance, Wednesday, April 27, at 9 p.m. through Thursday, April 28, at 3 a.m.

I-464 South - Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at the Barnes Road overpass for overhead sign maintenance, Thursday, April 28, at 9 p.m. through Friday, April 29, at 3 a.m.

GILMERTON BRIDGE

Route 13 East/West – Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime closures on South Military Highway between Bainbridge Boulevard and Shell Road. Closures will include flagging operations in the project work zone, stopping traffic in both directions for up to 10 minutes. Crews will be replacing delineators and restriping the roadway. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution in the work zone.

CHESAPEAKE/SUFFOLK
I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect single alternating mobile lane closures between Pughsville Road and the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel for sign safety inspection, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures between Pughsville Road to Route 17/Western Branch, concrete roadway repairs, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Motorists should expect on- and off- ramp closures associated with this paving operation. Detours will be utilized at Pughsville Road, Portsmouth Boulevard and Dock Landing on and off ramps.

VIRGINIA BEACH
Witchduck Road North/South – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures from Bonney Road to the I-264 Interchange on Witchduck Road and on Greenwich/Grayson Road at Witchduck Road for asphalt placement in travel lanes and pavement marking installation, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

I-264 West – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures from Witchduck Road (Exit 16) to Independence Boulevard (Exit 17) for bridge joint repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-264 East – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures from Lynnhaven Parkway (Exit 19) to Laskin Road (Exit 20) for bridge joint repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-264 West – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures from First Colonial Road (Exit 21) to Laskin Road (Exit 20) for bridge joint repairs, Tuesday, April 26, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures from Witchduck Road (Exit 16) to Independence Boulevard (Exit 17) for bridge joint repairs, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-264 West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures at the Kempsville Road Overpass to the HOV Reversible Roadway gate entrance for overhead sign repair, Tuesday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to3 p.m.

SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY/GREENVILLE COUNTY
Route 58 West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures to Route 58 Business for roadway striping, Monday, April 25, through Friday, April 29, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Route 58 East – Motorists should expect single mobile lane closures from the Emporia city line, to Route 704, for concrete patching, beginning Tuesday, April 26, at midnight continuously through Friday, April 29, at noon.

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY
CAPE CHARLES DETOUR
– Motorists should expect a detour at Mason Avenue and Harbor Avenue for sewer main installation. From Mason Avenue, eastbound traffic will travel north on Harbor Avenue one block to Randolph Avenue, then east on Strawberry Street back onto Mason Avenue. Detour will remain in place Monday through Friday, from April 25 through May 25.
